8th Grade
The Dowell Lionettes Eighth Grade volleyball teams won a battle against the Cockrill Cowgirls.
The Blue “B” team won their set in two games, 25-18, 25-22. Celeste Darling had 3 aces and 2 kills. Hope Scheelar had 4 kills. Abigail Puhala had 4 aces and played defense well.
The Gold “A” team fought hard and won in three, 25-17, 21-25, 25-20. Makenna Kelty had 7 kills and 1 tip. Both Landri Maxfield and Avery Voss had 4 blocks each.
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team finished with a win in two, 25-14, 25-10. Grace Boggs had 7 aces. Courtney Briggs and Anna Schaar played great defensive as well.
Next set is against the Rockwall Williams Middle School in Rockwall on September 25th starting with the White game at 5:30pm. The Gold team will kick off their tournament season at the Allen Open this Saturday, September 20th. One Heart, One Team, LIONETTES!

7th Grade
The Dowell Lionettes seventh grade volleyball teams played against Cockrill Middle School on September 18.
The Blue “B” team lost their set in two games, 18-25 and 17-25. Hollie Studdard had two kills from the front row and 4 serving aces. Kayla Minst had 2 assists and a kill and Madison Maguire had a kill. Anissa Lechner also had 2 assists to hitters in the front row. Way to play, ladies!
The Gold “A” team fought hard in 2 games but unfortunately did not pull out a win, losing 20-25 and 7-25. Sailor O’Gara contributed 7 points with her serves, including two aces. Olivia Tarsi had two vibrant kills at the net and Trinity Dudek had 5 assists to hitters in the front row. Excellent job ladies!
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team pulled out a win in three games with scores of 25-16, 20-25 and 25-17. Campbell Shelton served 12 points, including 7 aces! Olivia Bettin had 3 assists to front row hitters, and Ashlyn Voss had a great kill at the net. Way to win!
