It’s been a great week @ DMS!! I had a visiting coach tell us he appreciated the sportsmanship shown by our football players during the games and I had a visiting parent tell me she loves to come to McKinney/Dowell’s Gym because of the very competitive games and the great fan support of our fans! “AWESOME” ! ! !
Dowell Cross Country ran in the District CC Meet last Saturday @ Cockrill. Our 7th girls top finishers: Kadijah Coleman, Taylor Amato, Maileri Derby. Our 7th boys top finishers: Brodie Millikin, Quinn Smith, Drew Reynolds, Jacob Woods. Our 8th girls top finishers: Emilie Torres, Cassie Carey. Our 8th boys top finishers: Jared Woodruff, Brady Taylor, Joshua Moore. 7th boys team finished 2nd in district ! Great CC season ! We had Our CC Celebration Thursday at Dowell and all the athletes had a great time! Thanks to Coach Branham and Coach Burns for the successful DMS CC season ! Thanks to our DMS Athletic Booster Club for the Celebration Thursday!!!
**Sports Flash** Dowell 8th Football and Dowell 8th Volleyball teams both had Super Success this week in competition vs. Highland Park!!! All DMS 8th teams/players/coaches are fired up for their next competition! Both groups are in a hot groove now!
Our MISD Athletic Word of the Week has been “Responsibility”. Coaches reminded athletes about being able to distinguish between right and wrong, carrying out their obligations, and being a reliable person. Our athletes of the week are: Mckenna Kelty, Davis Cunningham, Trevor Wipperman, CJ Matthews, Brody Clark, Rasheed Readus, Michael Kuntzendorf, and Macie McCraw.
Dowell Spirit has grown this year with Ms. Saxton leading up our DMS Cheerleaders and Spirit Squad this year. Great to have these young ladies boosting spirit at DMS events ! Shout out to DMS Cheerleader Vanessa Garcia and DMS Spirit Squad member Jamie Hall as our Dowell Spirit Champions!!!!
Our 7th programs are growing in performance and knowledge of their sports. We’ll always continue to develop teamwork and strive to be our very best. Boys and Girls are giving great efforts and developing leadership traits to build on.

Victorious athletes possess an unwillingness to accept defeat. The alternative to winning is unacceptable to them. We are seeing more and more of our athletes growing strong will and determination! They are making great strides to be successful in all that they do !!
