This has been a great week of athletics at Dowell Middle School!  We all can see it every day!  Athletes showing responsibility,  athletes showing leadership, athletes showing passion, athletes showing unquestionable commitment, athletes with a no quit attitude.  Seeing them rise to the challenges of being a student athlete is awesome.  The growth of our athletes and their unified vision is amazing! 

Our MISD Athletic Word of the Week has been “Determination”.  Coaches talked with athletes about making their own good decisions and being firm in their decision.  Our athletes of the week are: Edom Kidane, Kevin Fritz, RJ Morning, Jack Brinkley, Olivia Bettin, Beau Brewer, Sam Mauceri, Peyton Brantley and Emma Gener.

UIL Grade Check is Friday, Oct. 17th.  Athletes must pass all classes on this date by 3:45pm to remain eligible for Volleyball, Football, and Basketball tryouts in November.

Dowell Cross Country Teams will compete in their final race…the “District Meet”  this Saturday, Oct. 18th at Cockrill Middle School.  8:00am start.  Coach Branham and Coach Burns have our runners ready for the challenge!  Wish them well! 

Dowell Football plays Highland Park  Oct. 21st   8th @ Boyd    7th @ HP   5:30pm starts

Dowell Volleyball will play Highland Park Oct. 23rd.    7th @ HP    8th @ DMS   5:00pm starts

Cross Country Celebration is Oct. 23rd.  More info to come.

Our young athletes are learning that winning and losing are a part of sports. We win or lose with class and maturity and respect for our opponents.  They carry many responsibilities and are showing great competitive spirit.  Our Dowell athletes are representing Dowell, McKinney ISD, and McKinney, Texas in an excellent manner!! 

GO DOWELL!!!!!  FIGHT ON!!!!!
